Step 2. After the last command has been completed, type the following command and hit Enter.

sfc /scannow sfc /scannow sfc /s

Shut down and restart your computer.

5. Rename the Software Distribution Folder 

Step 1. Press Windows Key + X and select Command Prompt Admin from the menu.

Step 2. Type the following commands, one after the other, and hit Enter after each one:–

NET STOPWUAUSERV\sNET STOPCRYPTSVC\sNET NET STOPMSISERVER STOP BITS

Step 3. After the preceding command has been executed, type the following command and press Enter to rename the folder:

C:WindowsSoftwareDistribution/ren/ren/ren/ren/ren/ren/ren/ren/ren/ren/ren/ SoftwareDistribution.old
C:WindowsSystem32catroot2 catroot2.old ren C:WindowsSystem32catroot2 catroot2.old

Step 4. After the above command has completed, run the following commands, pressing Enter after each one, to resume services:

WUAUSERV NET START CRYPTSVC NET START BITS NET START MSISERVER NET START WUAUSERV NET START CRYPTSVC NET START BITS NET START MSISERVER
