Considering the complexity of a browser and the many moving parts that comprise a connection between servers, most users rarely experience any problems while surfing the web.
When errors like PR_Connect_Reset_Error do occur, however, they can be a major hindrance, especially if the solution is not immediately apparent.
Solving the PR_Connect_Reset_Error
1. Delete All Cache Files from Your Browser
Files and preferences that you frequently use are stored in your cache. For this reason, your browser may occasionally use stale information stored in its cache.
When you use two separate connections to reach the same website, clearing this cache is a smart idea. After the cache has been deleted, you can visit the site again to rebuild it.
First, you should get rid of all the tabs you have open in Firefox and start over with a blank page. To change any of these options, click the hamburger menu in the top right, then select Settings or Options from the drop-down menu.

The Privacy & Security sub-heading is where you want to be right now.
You can adjust several aspects of your secure browsing experience here. Cookies and Site Data is where you’ll want to be.
By default, both boxes will be checked, but if you only want to delete the cache for the caching of web content, you should uncheck the box labelled “Cookies and Site Data” and leave the other box checked.
The browser’s cache will be removed once you click the Clear button. Try restarting your machine to see if the PR_Connect_Reset_Error returns after this.
You should Turn Off Any Firewalls and Security Programmes
We can also investigate your firewall and security software as potential causes of the PR_Connect_Reset_Error because it is an interruption rather than a complete rejection of data. You should therefore try disabling any additional firewall software to see whether this resolves the issue.
You should temporarily disable your security software and firewall. This is because a firewall’s “rules” might continue to affect your browsing even after you’ve disabled the firewall itself.
The specific steps for doing so will vary by operating system and security software. However, if there is a specialised uninstaller available, we recommend using its use. You can start troubleshooting the PR_Connect_Reset_Error with a fresh system.
You should recheck for the problem after uninstalling.
Turn off Your Virtual Private Network or Proxy
Not everyone will be using a virtual private network (VPN), but if you are, you may want to disable it to check if that is the source of the PR_Connect_Reset_Error.
If you’re using a Mac, go to the System Preferences > Network pane to adjust your VPN’s settings.
To disconnect from the VPN, click the icon here. You may not even need to remove the VPN if you use it using extensions (but keep this as an option in the bag if necessary).

When configuring a proxy on macOS, go back to the Network preferences screen under System Preferences and this time select the Advanced tab.
Select the Proxies menu item and deselect all of the currently selected protocols.
For Windows, you’ll again want to head to the Network & Internet screen, this time to the Proxy section on the left-hand side. Then, go to the section labelled “Manual proxy configuration,” and turn off the option labelled “Use a proxy server.”
Summary
Although there are many potential points of failure in a client-server connection, browser faults are uncommon. Nonetheless, error messages have the potential to halt your progress entirely.
